Although manors were originally a strange phenomenon brought to Estonia by conquerors, they have become numerous and an integral part of Estonian culture. Alatskivi's identity lies largely in history - legends and myths, stories which have been told about the castle as well as the whole surroundings. The manor complex is no longer in its original form but it allows you to feel the passage of time. Many buildings are destroyed, several of them got new content and functions, but the main building of the manor, in the form of a castle, takes us back in time to the 19th century.
A manor complex is a collection of buildings, lands, objects and legends whose breath can be felt even today. The buildings and decorative objects of Alatskivi Manor can be divided conditionally into four circles connected by plots of land and a network of roads. In the XIX century the manor complex included 57 buildings and objects, of
which , 41 are still standing.
The first circle, the heart circle of the manor, is the castle and its surroundings, stables, cheese cellar and ice cellar.
